Refund policy

This policy covers the Complete Business Model Toolkit, the only paid product on this site. The free templates are free: there is nothing to refund, and you never have to ask us before using them.

Look before you buy

We would rather you never need this page. Five canvas templates on this site are free and need no email address. A complete real-company canvas from the toolkit is published at full resolution on the toolkit page, and every screenshot there is the actual file rather than a mockup. Read the file list, open the free templates, and buy only once you are satisfied it does more than what you already have.

The window

Refund requests must reach us within 7 days of purchase. Delivery is instant, so this is time to open the files and check they are what the page described.

What we refund

Non-delivery. The Lemon Squeezy download link never arrived or never worked. Tell us and we will either get the files to you or refund the purchase in full. This one is not limited to 7 days: if you paid and never received the product, we will make it right whenever you tell us.
A broken or defective file. A workbook that will not open, a formula that computes wrongly, a corrupted PDF. Our first move is to fix the file and send you the corrected version, because that is what you actually wanted. If we cannot fix it, you get a refund.
Materially not as described. If the toolkit is significantly different from what this site says it contains, that is our error and we refund it.

What we do not refund

Change of mind after 7 days have passed.
Preference, where the product matches its description. "I wanted a different layout" or "the free version was enough for me" are fair reactions, but everything the toolkit contains is listed and shown before purchase.
Purchases where the files were downloaded and put to substantive use, beyond evaluating them. Evaluation means opening the files, checking they work, and confirming they match the description. Filling the worksheets with your own data, running the financial models on your numbers, presenting the deck, or delivering any part of the toolkit to a client, a class, or an investor is use, not evaluation.
A second refund to the same person. If we have refunded you once, that purchase is settled and the same email address cannot buy the toolkit again.
Requests showing a clear abuse pattern, such as repeated buy-download-refund cycles or bulk purchases refunded together.

What happens to your licence

A refund ends your licence to the toolkit. Once it is issued you must stop using the files and delete your copies, including any you have shared with colleagues or clients. Keeping and using the files after being refunded is a breach of the terms of use, and it is also just theft. The canvas layouts inside the files remain CC BY-SA licensed and are unaffected by this, as is anything you built with the free templates.

How to request one

Reply to your Lemon Squeezy receipt, or email [email protected]from the address you purchased with. Tell us what went wrong in a line or two. You will get a reply within one business day, and approved refunds are issued through Lemon Squeezy to your original payment method, where they typically take five to ten business days to appear depending on your bank.

Please write to us before opening a dispute with your card issuer or PayPal. A chargeback takes weeks and costs us a fee; an email usually takes an hour and gets you either a working file or your money.

Your statutory rights

Nothing here removes rights you have under the consumer law of your own country. Buyers in some jurisdictions, including the EU and the UK, have a statutory right to withdraw from a purchase of digital content, which can be longer than the window above and which can be affected by consenting to immediate download at checkout. Where the law gives you more than this policy does, the law wins, and we will honour it.
